Training kicks off!

Senior training kicks off this Sunday 21st September from 10:30am.

The senior club is looking to field an extra side this year in the A5 competition, so if you know any past players looking to resurrect their career, or someone who wouldn’t mind playing the odd game or ten, then get them to come out to training!

And that’s the game…

A small chatter this week as we transitioning from attempting to playing cricket to watching those in the younger quadrant playing football in the mud and wet!

Well done to our association trophy winners:

  • Mitch Boschen (A1 Reserves Bowling)
  • Dan Reu (A4 Batting)
  • Darryl Hean (A4 MVP)
  • Will Loffler (Under 16 Bowling Aggregate)
  • Jake Hartigan (Under 14 Fielding)

Special mentions to those who managed to achieve a top 5 finish:

  •      Dylan Birchard – Under 14 Bowling Aggregate & Average
  • Will Loffler – Under 16 Batting Aggregate & Average and runner up in the Under 16 Bowling Aggregate
  • Darryl Hean – A4 Batting Aggregate and Average and also in the A4 Bowling Aggregate and Average
  • Chris Collins – A4 Bowling Aggregate and Average
  • Toby Mifflin – A2 Batting Aggregate and Average
  • Luke Samain – A1 Reserves Bowling Aggregate and Average

The season closed out with a combined Junior and Senior presentation day on Sunday.  We won’t go into all the detail of the end of year presentation day, congratulations to all of the trophy winners.   Whilst individual trophies aren’t what we head into a cricket season for, with that elusive team prize the one we are all aiming for, congratulations to those that have topped the leader boards.

Congratulations to Mitch Boschen – the man with a chair full of trophies – a stellar year which yielded 43 wickets in A1 Reserves – terrific effort Mitch.  A very worthy winning of the club’s MVP for 2013/2014.

The highlight of the presentation day was when one of the gentlemen of the game achieves more than any player to come before him, with that man being Jon Farley.  It was great to see Jon’s family and a couple of our life members in  Kevin Bartsch and Ray Giersch  on hand to see Jon being acknowledged for becoming the games record holder for the Tanunda Cricket Club, with 311 games (not out).

Not only did the club celebrate 300 games for Jon in style, but President Darren had great delight in surprising Jon with the honour of becoming a life member of the Tanunda Cricket Club.  Well done Jon.

That wraps up the year.  A successful year for the club, a huge leap forward without the flags we were hoping for – but watch out for next year!  For those that think a casual game of cricket is behind you, watch out on the hill at the footy this year – we’re coming to get you!

Good luck to the Tanunda Football, Netball and Hockey clubs as they fly the flag in the wetter and colder months.  Let’s make sure Tanunda boys and girls are happy.

The Tanunda Cricket Club is back where we want to be – in finals action.  Not quite the couple of premierships – but we’ll come back bigger and stronger next year.

Finally, and importantly, thanks to all of our sponsors for your wonderful support throughout the season.   Your support makes it possible for us to play the game we love each week.  Thank you.

See you in 2014/2015!

Senior wrap up

Congratulations to all the senior sides for making the finals this season. It’s a big turn around from last season where all three sides finished bottom of the ladder!

Congratulations also to the 1’s and the 4’s for getting over the line in the semi-final to make it through to the grand final. Hard luck for the 2’s again, missing out on playing in that final game of the season!

Don’t forget to support the grand finalists by getting out to training this week and to also support them in the GF.

1’s are playing at Stockwell, 4’s are at Eudunda.
